The Academic year 2020-2021

The academic year starts officially on August 1st 2020 and ends on July 31st 2021.

Period 1: 1.8-25.10.2020 (the tuition starts on August 31, 2020.)
Period 2: 26.10-31.12.2020
Period 3: 1.1-21.3.2021
Period 4: 22.3-31.7.2021 (the tuition ends usually at the end of May/beginning of June 2021)

Regular lectures start 31.8.2020.

The academic year 2020 is opened at a festive Opening party 2.9.2020. All new students are welcome and encouraged to participate!

During the time 21.12.2020 - 6.1.2021 there are no courses held at Arcada.

Introductions days are held for first-year students 24-25.8.2020. During 26-28.8.2020 introductory sessions will be held alongside regular lectures.

Graduation ceremonies are arranged on January 22nd 2021 and June 18th 2021.

During the introduction days students get acquainted with the Arcada building as learning environment, their new degree programme and department, and get to meet their teachers, amanuensis and tutors who will help them get started with their studies at Arcada.

Opening of the Academic year

The opening of the Academic year is the most ceremonial celebration during the year. Invited guests are all first year students, staff and special guest as well as the student tutors. After the opening ceremony all guests are welcomed to a celebration with entertainment and finger food on the big square in the Arcada building. All first year students recieve an invitation to the opening ceremony (with an r.s.v.p. link) to their Arcada email. Dresscode: Jacket.

Thesis Forum

Thesis Forum is part of your Degree Thesis and means that you after your Thesis has been approved, present it to your supervisor, inspector and opponent as well as other interested students and members of the staff.

My Future Work

My Future Work is Arcadas annual networking event designed to help students, our UAS experts and employers get together and form valuable contacts. During the day Arcadas Big Square forms a platform for interesting companies to meet their future employees. My Future Work gives you as a student a chance to find practical placement, a business partner for your degree thesis or maybe your first job after graduation.

Re-exam days

Graduation ceremony
