Mailinglists
Students and staff are automatically members of email lists according to specific categories.
If you have accidentally been removed from an email list, you can subscribe to it yourself.
Joining and leaving an email list
Arcada uses the Majordomo application to maintain its email lists. Majordomo's email address is majordomo
Enter the command in the email message body. Majordomo does not process the message subject field (Subject), so you do not need to write anything there. Majordomo attempts to interpret all text in the message, such as your signature, as commands, so check the message before sending it and remove any unnecessary content.
Always use the Plain text format when sending messages to Majordomo. Majordomo cannot interpret messages in HTML format. Check your email client's settings to ensure that messages are sent in plain text format.
Note that Outlook and other modern email clients send messages in HTML format by default.
- Outlook: File > Options > Mail > Compose messages > select Plain Text from the drop-down menu.
- OWA: Settings (the gear icon in the upper-right corner) > Mail > Compose and reply > select Plain text from the drop-down menu.
Joining an email list
To join a list, send the following command to the Majordomo list server email address majordomo
subscribe list-name username
Leaving an email list
To leave a list, send the following command to the Majordomo list server email address majordomo
unsubscribe list-name username
