These documents prove your right to extra absence in addition to the two terms all students have the right to:
- Service under the Conscription Act (1438/2007), Non-Military Service Act (1446/2007), or Act on Women's Voluntary Military Service (194/1995)
- Call-up order, or a separate certificate issued by the Finnish Defence Forces
- Parental leave
- Kela's certificate regarding parental allowance period or, if the certificate has not yet been received, a medical certificate regarding the pregnancy
- Corresponding certificates from the authorities of other countries regarding statutory parental leave
Illness or disability does not qualify you for extra absence, even though they give you the right to be absent during your first academic year. See arcada.fi for more information on first-year absence.
The certificate should be submitted via a link in Oili (enrollment and registration service for students). If you do not have access to Oili (e.g. fee paying students) or forgot to submit the certificate when registering for the academic year, you may submit it via this form: Documents supporting legal grounds for absence . Please note that you should only fill in this form if you are going to be absent based on legal grounds. Certificates regarding illness of disability should not be submitted via this form.
