Lotta Eronen, PhD| Senior Lecturer | MSc | Registered Nurse
I am passionate about developing nurses’ skills and education. My research focuses on nurses’ clinical competence from a Nordic perspective.
My career in healthcare began as a nurse and continued with a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Care and Educational Studies, followed by a PhD in Health Sciences with a specialization in Caring Science.
At Arcada, I am an active participant in the multi-professional research project ‘Comprehending Compassion’, which aims to create more compassionate working environments and guide students to become ‘ambassadors of compassion’ in their future careers.
Together with my colleague, we also run the ‘Beds to Bytes’ project, focusing on virtual wards. The project is both a development and research initiative focusing on the professional development of healthcare staff in virtual care from a person-centred perspective.
Clinical expertise
With a decade of clinical experience in surgical and perioperative care, my master’s thesis focused on improving patient safety through incident reporting. With a focus on change, development and ‘no-blame’ environments.
I am interested in nurses’ clinical competence, nursing education and future skills, leadership, compassion in the workplace, and promoting the well-being and career progression of nurses.
