Kompetensmål
The aim of the course is to give the student the
ability to understand how polymer materials react
when they are exposed, processed and used in
different environments.
Läranderesultat
At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to:
-understand how molecules in a polymer are
formed by polymerization
-understand the properties of the chain
molecule in terms of structure, length, form,
mobility, and interactions with neighboring
chain molecules
-Explain polymer properties such as cohesion,
adhesion, solubility and compatibility
according to functional groups and secondary
bonds
Innehåll
Lectures, exercises and laboratory exercises on
nomenclature, structure, molecular weight, step-
growth polymers, chain-growth polymers, cross-
linking, solutions and degradation
