Use toolbox and 3D ContentCentral in the design process of standard parts

Using the Interface
Basic Functionality
Basic Parts - The Binding
Revolved Features - The Wheel Hub
Thin Features - The Deck
Multibody Parts - The Axle and Truck
Sweeps and Lofts - Springs and Bindings
Final Assembly

Förkunskaper

There is no prerequisite for the course. Some experience with engineering drawing, AutoCAD or SolidWorks is however desirable. The course is designed for students who are motivated in working mainly independently in completing a design project. There is no compulsory attendance. The 1st lecture is recommended however. Students may choose to attend pop in help sessions or to complete the work entirely at home (computer required) or individually at Arcada.

Please ensure questions about the course are asked during the month of May. The lecturer will not be in contact during June and July. There is no compulsory attendance.

Litteratur

Students should follow the 541 page SolidWorks Engineering Design Project : Mountainboard Student Guide (pdf) from help>student curriculum>SOLIDWORKS content> SolidWorks Educator Curriculum>Curriculum 2015>Mountainboard Design Project found from within the SolidWorks Programme. Ensure you unzip both the mountainboard project zip file and then also the mountainboard student files zip file. Parts used in the workbook can then be found in the subfolders.

SolidWorks can be downloaded for home use from:
https://famnen.arcada.fi/lab/software.php
Arcada is running version 2016 so it is recommended to run 2016 at home also.

Examinationskrav

To pass the course the student should submit the following:

Final assembly or exploded drawing of mountainboard as per page 449 of the student guide in chapter 8 task 4 (100%). No other submissions are required for the course.

60-69 Grade 2 Satisfactory
70-79 Grade 3 Good
80-89 Grade 4 Good
90-100 Grade 5 Excellent

Kursens tidtabell

Tutorials and drop in sessions provided in May for students with questions. Students may complete and submit the work entirely in May or choose to complete the course in June and July also. There is however no contact to the lecturer in the months of June and July. All work will be graded in August regardless of the submission date.
