In this study unit you present the following
competences:

Upon completion of this study unit:

You can critically examine, discuss and evaluate
different
scientific texts. (Knowledge)

You apply, evaluate and discuss different research
methods for
collecting data and processing data. (Skills)

You argue for different research ethical
positions. (Approach)

You apply a critical approach when reviewing your
own and other
students' project plans and reports. (Approach)

In the study unit, the student begins the writing
of his or her Thesis. Final
examination of this unit consists of chapters 1, 2
and 3 of the Thesis.

The overall content of this unit is to provide the
student an ability to be
able to plan and carry out an independent
scientific work. The student
should be able to apply and integrate the
knowledge acquired in previous
study units in order to investigate a specific
phenomenon of their own
interest.

Students are also given opportunities to improve
their knowledge of
information retrieval, which is an essential part
of writing a scientific
paper.

Finally, this study unit helps the student to be
able to understand and make
use of the different scientific methods available
for to investigate a chosen
phenomenon.

Third year students.
The minimum requirement to complete this study
unit is 105 ECTS (credits from work placements are
not
included) and at least 30 credits in your major
subject have
to be completed.

AB-2-052 - Seminars and Thesis Work

The course starts the thesis process.
Active participation is required. When submitting the
preliminary topic (and idea) within the time frame
informed in the beginning, the student will get a
thesis supervisor.

The student starts working on the final thesis
(chapters 1,2,3). At the
end of the course the student should hand-in the
final version of the
first part of the thesis.

All parts of the seminar report must be submitted
according to the
instructions given in each assignment in
itslearning. Students who fail
to submit an assignment will be removed from the
course and is
required to participate in the next course.
