The aim of the course is to understand the role
of Destination Management Organisations and how
they manage with different kind of stakeholders
on a destination as e.g. a country, region or
a town. The course will also give in-depth
knowledge of the functions how to satisfy
visitors needs and demands on a sustainable
way.

Målsättningen med kursen är att fördjupa sig i
destinationens helhetsledning i en vald
turistdestination och samtidigt få kunskap över
behovet av ansvarsfullt verksamhet tillsammans
med destinationers aktörer. Studeranden kan
efter kursen också identifiera konkurrensens
inverkan på turismen och iakta specialdrag i en
destination.

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to have a deep knowledge of
one chosen destination in Finland or somewhere
else. He/she does understand the
competitiveness of destinations compared to
other destinations. He/she can evaluate
management skills displayed in the case of a
successful responsible destination. The student
will be able to analyze the position of a
tourism company from an internal and external
points of view.He/she will also consider the
impact of future trends .

Efter avklarad kurs förväntas den studerande
vara förmögen att ha en helhetssyn på samarbete
på en turisdestination, hurdana aktörer som
behövs för att garantera kvalitativa
upplevelser för en besökare. Han/hon kan
presentera ett betydande turistområde och kan
identifiera dess konkurrenskraft. Studeranden
kan ge exempel på en lyckad ledning och ett bra
samarbete i en destination.Han/hon kan
analysera turistföretagets ställning med tanke
på inre och yttre inverkande faktorer samt
trender inom branschen.

Analysis of different sectors and networks
within tourism fields. Analysis of tourism
enterprises and entrepreneurship, future
development and the effects on people and
destination as it is.Responsible issues for
destination development. Some destinations will
be familiar during the course.

To pass the course the student should
pass the following examinations:
Examination 1 Quiz 30/100 points
Examination 2 Learning report 30/100 points
Examination 3 Destination analysis a,b,and c
total 40/100 p

All examinations must be passed with the minimum
points (50%)

Minumun 50 points to pass the course,
maximun 100 points
(examinations include written reports and
active discussion)

The examinations contribute to the final grade
as follows: 50-60=1, 61-70=2, 71-80=3, 81-
90=4,91-100=5
