Soon it's Christmas again ... and as you know it can be a difficult time for many people or families. Last year, the Nursing students collected several IKEA bags full of gifts we donated to charity. This year, we challenge all students at Arcada to participate in a collective effort to make the coming Christmas a better experience for many.
You know how Christmas calendars work ... every day you open a box to reveal a surprise ... We thought of having a reverse calendar and hope that instead every day something is given to the collection. The gifts will be donated to charity through the Apuna ry Relief Group and the Salvation Army.
Items that are good to donate are foods with a long shelf life (tea, coffee, biscuits, sweets etc.), personal hygiene items (shampoo, soap, toothpaste etc.), clothes, books, magazines, games, candles, dog and cat food, etc. Gifts / toys for children are much appreciated. Your donations can be wrapped up if you want, but then you need to add a note explaining who the gift is suitable for (eg girl 4-6 years, adult woman / man etc.). Remember that the gifts should be new, not used.
The time for collecting the donations is from Monday the 2nd of December until Tuesday the 17th of December at 12 noon. You can leave your donations either at the info desk on the second floor or in Block A4 in Pamela Gray's room. On the afternoon of the 17th the donations are delivered so that they can be distributed before Christmas.
I hope you all have the opportunity to participate in Arcada's charity event, individually or as a group. Please spread the word and remember that even the smallest of donations can make a big difference in the lives of some families. If you have questions or would like more information, please contact Pamela Gray, email@example.com .
