If you after a few years (at least three) in working life look forward to new, exciting possibilities and to increase your competitiveness on the labour market, perhaps wish to take the next step in your career and work with expert-, development- and leadership tasks, then Arcada’s higher degree (Master’s) education in Health Promotion is something for you. The Master’s education is targeted at students who have graduated from Social Services and Healthcare as well as Sports programmes, e.g. midwives, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, gerontologists, public health nurses, sports instructors, nurses, paramedics and sociologists. The education confers a deepening of knowledge, skills and abilities in health promotion, leadership and research- and development activities. The education supports the ability to meet the constant changes in working life and the demands placed on an evidence-based mode of working and research- development- and innovation activities within your field.
The programme in Health Promotion educates experts for development tasks within health promoting activities and services. The basis is an understanding for and knowledge of human health in various stages of life. The learning focuses on strategies and evidence-based practices to promote health and welfare and is supported by a proactive research- and development collaboration with businesses, authorities and institutions. The Master’s thesis is focused on development pursuits that are anchored in working life. The elective studies and the degree thesis provide a possibility to profile the studies to specific fields of interest.
Career prospects/Placement in working life
After finishing the degree programme you can work with change- and development work within your present employment and as a leader for multi-professional organisations.
Research-, development- and innovation
The research-, development- and innovation activities within Arcada are primarily conducted within the profile areas that exist within the Department of Health and Welfare at Arcada. These are Health Promotion, Patient Safety and Social Inclusion.
We strive for that the student performs as large a part of their studies as possible integrated with ongoing research-, development- and innovation activities. The basis for these activities is that they should be utilitarian. This entails that we embark from existing, needs-defined issues in working life and the society.
