The purpose of this education is to give the student skills and knowledge to supply highly detailed and precise technical advice to real estate owners with respect to thermal retrofitting. Already today the political and societal demands for significantly improved energy performance in the real estate sector are vast, and the ongoing and accelerating climate change will demand even further regulations.

Thermal retrofitting as such is well known and significant changes regarding fully new technologies are not foreseen. What should be changed, however, is new methodologies allowing supply of real data for decision making. Precise data on the building's energy performance before and scheduled thermal retrofittings will allow for precise calculations on the expected savings and financial implications.

Our programme is founded on the compulsory study module on energy diagnosis and comfort optimization. Upon completing this a student will have the required skills to diagnose any building on how and where energy is needed and lost. This kind of data is a natural foundation for subsequent planning of targeted changes for energy upgradings and associated cost and thermal comfort optimizations.
