You achieve a degree equivalent to Bachelor of Engineering.

You gain eligibility to apply for certification e.g. for HVAC planning, supervision or as an energy expert.

In the attached document “Competence development by academic year – Energy and Environmental Engineering” you can see how the study modules are built up in more detail and which specific competences are set as targets for the programme.

Placement in working life / career prospects

Your future work assignments are defined by you yourself and future development. If you fancy a social job, you might work directly with property owners, carry out measurements and make well adapted recommendations to the customers. If you rather would work with technology and technical inventions, you might deal with product development, planning for renovations or data analysis and simulations.

Continued studies

Should you like to continue your studies after achieving your bachelor’s degree, there are several possibilities. You might choose to carry on at a university with master’s degree studies or, after three years’ work experience, continue studying for a master’s degree at Arcada or another University of Applied Sciences.

The master’s degree programmes consist of 60 or 90 credits and can often be completed while working. In the employment market a master’s degree from a UAS is equivalent to a master’s degree from a university, and provides eligibility for public offices requiring a second cycle degree. Starting from 2016 Arcada will offer a Master’s degree programme in Real Estate Energy for Bachelors of Engineering (in English).

The second-cycle university degree usually consists of 120 credits (2 years of full-time study). The admission decisions are made by the receiving higher education institution.

Licentiate and doctoral studies at university level is a possible alternative after achieving a master’s degree. The university assesses individually for each case whether the applicant has sufficient knowledge and skills for university postgraduate education.

Specialisation studies develop your professional competence. Specialisation studies are arranged in a flexible way and are therefore suitable for persons in working life.
