Overall competences

The  overall  achieved  competence  after  graduating with this Master’s degree is to be able  to lead a business unit. This competence is gained by a combination of knowledge and skills.The student will acquire  state-of-the-art  generic  business  knowledge  and  advanced  practical  business  skills  in  two specialization areas through focusing on either the Nordic context or Financial Technology (Fintech). Apart  from this,an important general competence is increasing the student’s communicative  and social competences in English.

Advanced studies (60 ECTS)

The overall structure of studies is divided into three areas of competence. The areas include a knowledge module (30 ECTS), a skill module (15 ECTS) and a supporting module (15 ECTS). Two different options (alternative specialization areas) are offered for skill competence: The Nordic context or Financial Technology.

All courses are taught entirely in English.


Core competences

The purpose of the knowledge module is to support and broaden your competence development in certain key areas in marketing and leadership. The student is able to use central and current concepts and models for structuring their business in general and more specifically understand the customer oriented reality of today’s business. Apart from this the student is capable of mastering the critical areas of Digital Marketing. The student is also able to analytically and critically examine, reflect and communicate on issues central for strategic business development.

Optional skill modules mean that the student have to choose one module á 15 ECTS from two different specialization areas.


Core competences

Skills to grow in the Nordic market are developed. You will get both an understanding and ability to plan and execute activities for entering a new Nordic market. You will also get practical tools for analyzing, planning, establishing and developing the position of the company in the Nordic market.

Core competences

The track on financial technology provides skills to grow in the Fintech market. You will get an overview of Fintech in the past and today as well as possibilities in the future, as viewed from the perspective of startups, investors and academia. The courses will then divide the topics into those focusing more on financial transactions and those focusing more on data and analytics.

Core competences

The student can choose a relevant topic for their master’s thesis, create a research problem and formulate a precise purpose for their research and/or development project. The student is also capable of writing a logical and well-structured research plan for the project. The student is capable of using both quantitative and qualitative research methods. The student can also through an elective course broaden their competence either within a business discipline or with a language course.

Master's Thesis (30 ECTS)

Core competences

The master’s thesis is an individual piece of work in the form of an empirical research and development project. The student shows her capability of systematically performing a study with a possible practical problem as a starting point. This practical problem is then formulated as a research problem and is solved by a specific purpose with possible related research questions. The student is able to use relevant existing knowledge of the studied phenomena and can create a structural and logical theoretical framework for the study. The student can decide to conduct the master’s thesis with a commissioner, for example the employer.
