Competency aims

The aim of the course is
- to improve spoken Finnish skills in routine
client-related interaction.
- to develop fluency in both spoken and written
language for various purposes, with focus on
the interaction with clients and other working
life contexts.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to
orally
-give their personal details.
- be able to give clear descriptions of
products and services connected to the trade
and other customer-service situations.

- be able to interact with native speakers in
customer-service and work-related discussions.
- be able to understand the main points of slow
standard speech on familiar matters regularly
encountered at work.
- be familiar with telephone etiquette in
customer-service context.

Writing
- be able to give their personal details.
- be familiar with e-mail etiquette and simple
reports.

Course contents

Customer-service dialogues even per telephone,
registering of contact and other personal details,
dealing with orders, complaints and other working
life situations

Additional information

Please note!
This course will improve the possibilities of
getting a work placement or job in Finland.
The course can be included in the extension
studies in the curriculum of International
Business.

The course Communicative Finnish can't be used to
compensate the course Nursing Finnish or any of
the courses in Finnish as the second domestic
language in the degree programs in Swedish.
