The aim of the course is to prepare you
- to get an introduction in being an entrepreneur
and to create an interest towards
entrepreneurship
- to establish and run a small innovative
business
- to fulfill your obligations towards yourself
and the State

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course you are expected to be
able to:
- know how to start a small company and to know
differences between different legal forms
- plan the whole business-process based on "The
Business Model Canvas" and formalize the idea´s
in a Business plan
-evaluate ways to protect the intellectual
property of the start-up

First-year studies performed satisfactorily (min.
50 cr).

Additional information

This course is a part of the Entrepreneurship
expansion module.
The courses Entrepreneurship 1,2,3 in periods
1, 2 and 3 must be taken and passed in this
order.The group project work of creating and
implementing a business idea is mandatory during
course 3.

There is an alternative track of participating in
courses 1 and 2 where you get some of your
assignments compensated by participating in
Demola-worklife oriented course outside Arcada.

At Demola you get the chance to work in a 2 month
long co-creation project with great project
partners and solve real-life problems.

Here is a short description about Demola-project:
Participation in co-creation team work. Students
from different universities in Helsinki are to
develop a concept/demo for the purposes of
validating an actual need and solution based on
the initial/challenge set by a partner
company/organisation. Collaboration with other
teams, taking part in the facilitated Demola
process, and finally presenting the results in a
public event are required.

Please NOTE THE DATE - the Application period is
between 14.05. and 30.08 and the first Demola
event is on Friday 07.09.2018
