Competency aims

After successful completing the course the student knows facts and frames of environmental management and understands the meaning of environmental responsibility as a part of competitive business practices. Also, the course offers practical information how to plan and build up main steps of an environmental management system.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student

The course Environmental Responsibility in the Hospitality and Tourism Industry gives an overview on environmental management for the future hospitality and tourism professionals. Environmental management is, however, only one part of the concept of sustainable tourism. In order to understand the importance of environmental management in the field of tourism, it is essential to understand the big picture of sustainable tourism.
The course
-present a general understanding on the concept of sustainable tourism,
-focuses on how to manage environmental impact of the business operations,
-introduces tools and measurement methods, as well as policy guidelines and regulations in environmentally responsible business context.
