Competency aims

The student develops knowledge about the concept of health and health
promoting work as a science base. The student identifies the resources
and challenges of the individual for the health promoting work within
the own field of work. The student understands health as a resource
and health promoting work as important both on and individual and
social level. The student gets skills in first aid.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to
1. explain and concretisize fundamental concepts
within health care (i.e. health, quality of life,
salutogenesis, health and sickness panorama, preventive
and promotive care)
2. describe the health promotive work among
patients in different ages
3. discuss factors that either promote or hinder
health during the different stages of life
4. give examples on methods for health promotion
work within your own field of interest
5. Explain health as a process in a context in
order to increase the wellbeing and participation of
the individual
6. Describe the health of the population in
relation to gende and socioeconomic status.

The student is expected to be able to evaluate
and act correctly during emergencies, have the
knowledge to act correctly during different illness
attacks, have knowledge in heart lung rescue and in the
use of a defibrillator.
