Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the student can
use
her/his knowledge
in care and relevant research in the meeting
with
patients in different age groups and with
different cultural backgrounds within the home
care context.

The student gets an insight in the
administrative
work within home care and out of hospital care.
The student learns about evaluative and client-
centered documentation.

Learning outcomes

The student is familiar with home care as a
working field.

The student knows who the most relevant
collaborators are within home care and knows
which occupational groups are part of the home
care team.

The student participates in home care staff
meetings and can see the connection between the
administrative work and the practical field
work from the nurses´ perspective.

The student practices skills that are of
relevance for the nurse/public health nurse in
home care/out of hospital care.

The student is able to vary his/her way of work
depending on the client´s age and cultural
background.

The student can plan, carry out and evaluate a
home care visit, prioritize the need of care,
estimate and document the need of nutrition,
hygien, mobility and need for pharmaceuticals.

The student is able to carry out a home visit
independently.

Clinical care 1
Anatomy and physiology
Clinical care 2 theory
Medication administration and dosage
calculation
A valid medical calculation test (within 6
months)
Community health care, elderly care and out-
patient care
Clinical care practical training (minimum 5
weeks)

If it has been more than two years since the
last practical training or the participation in
the theoretical courses that are pre-requisits
for the course, the student has to demonstrate
the competence for participation in the
practical training. Please contact the examiner
of the course.
In addition, pro rector´s decision 6/2020
regarding sufficient language competence in
Swedish and Finnish is a requirement for signing
up for this practical training.

Additional information

The course assignment is handed in at the latest
one week after the practical training.
