Once you have completed the study unit you will:

You have knowledge about the system of psychiatric
and mental health care.
You have knowledge about
mental health and mental health disturbances. You
understand the meaning of health promotion in
mental and dependency psychiatric care. You have
knowledge based in caring theory about central
caring acts -and activities in psychiatric care.

You understand the specific aspects of caring
process in psychiatric caring and can apply it in
caring. You are able to identify, meet and take
care of patients suffering from different kind of
mental problems and illnesses.
You can participate in planning, realizing and
evaluation of patient's care, furthermore You have
a capacity to create an individual plan for
patient care. You understand the meaning of caring
relationship, create a relation to an own patient,
furthermore You have capacity to use the self to
promote patient's mental health. You can use
different digital possibilities in mental health
care.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Before the practical training: The first two years studies completed as well as the theory course in Home and Psychiatric Health Care.
The medical calculation has to be completed latest in 2 weeks before the practical training.

Additional information

The work shifts are made according to the
supervisor's and the unit's planning. 38h/week in
three-shift work.
The clinicL practice assignment is done on
itsLearning.
Reporting of hours worked and the evaluation
should be submitted to itsLearning.
Vaccination certificates and investigation of
infectious diseases are followed according to
standard directives and the welfare area's
requirements.

In addition, the vice chancellor's decision 6/2020
on sufficient language skills in Swedish and
Finnish applies when an clinical practice is to be
booked.

Medication calculation exam completed no later
than 2 weeks before the start of the clinical
practice or according to the examiner's
requirements.
