Be familiar with home care as a working field.

Know who the most relevant collaborators are
within home care and which occupational groups are
part of the home care team. (Knowledge)

Have an insight in the administrative
work within home care. (Knowledge)

Have skills that are of relevance for the
nurse/public health nurse in home care. (Skills)

Be able to plan, carry out and evaluate a
home care visit, prioritize the need of care,
estimate and document the need of nutrition,
hygiene, mobility and need for pharmaceuticals.

Be able to carry out a home visit independently.

Be able to master evaluative and client-
centered documentation. (Skills)

Be able to apply your knowledge in care and
relevant research when encountering with patients
in different age groups and with different
cultural backgrounds within the home care context.

Course contents

Clinical practice in the field of home care.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

All study units from the first two years from the
curriculum completed, and the study unit Health
Illness in Home Care and Psychiatric Health Care
Settings completed.
In addition, pro rector´s decision 6/2020
regarding sufficient language competence in
Swedish and Finnish is a requirement for signing
up for this practical training.

The working shifts are completed according to the
supervisor´s planning. The assignment is done on
Itslearning. The schedule and the assessment is to be
handed in on Itslearning.
