Competency aims

The student will develop his/hers competence in
Occupational Therapy by:
- Understanding the cooperation and
dynamics between Person, Environment and Activity
- Understanding the Human Activity and how
the activity affects the health and the feeling
of wellbeing
The student will develop his/hers competence in
the Occupational Therapy Process and Professional
Reasoning by:
- Understanding the how the different parts
of the OT-process are parts of the Occupational
Therapists daily work
The student will develop his/hers competence
about the Professional Relationship and
Companionship by:
- Understanding the client centered
approach in everyday OT work
The student will develop his/hers competence in
using research in Occupational Therapy and
Occupational Science by:
- Being more aware how research gives
him/her support for his/her professional
reasoning
The student will develop his/hers competence in
learning by:
- Taking responsibility for his/her own
learning process
- Understanding the importance of learning
together
The student will develop his/hers communication-
and social competences by:
- Co-operate and by being open for other
suggestions within the working community
- Verbally report and tell his/her messages
The student will develop his/hers ethical
competence by:
- Being more aware how the Ethical
Occupational Therapy Codex can be seen in the
daily OT-work

Learning outcomes

After finishing the practical training the
student:
- Can use guidance - by a student on
Practical Training 2 for support - in order to
create his/her own plan for action, during the
training period
- Can describe the work duties of the OT on
sight and in the organization
- Can, as an outcome of an interview
/discussion, report on the persons experience of
Value in Occupations
- Can pay attention on how the environment
affects different persons Occupational
Performance
- Can seek support for his/her own
reflections about the person from research in
Occupational Therapy and Occupational Science
- Can describe how the OT-process supports
the everyday work of the OT
- Can choose a relevant assessment approach
in
order to assess and clarify Occupational
Performance issues
- Can identify the persons strengths and
resources
- Has some insight on the routines, when it
comes to documentation
- Can take the professional Code of Ethics
in consideration when showing respect, letting
the person be heard and when promoting a
reciprocal relationship
- Can respect and follow the rules for
professional secrecy

Course contents

Fieldwork in hospital, health care center or other
working places for OT.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Approved examination from basic course in
Occupational Therapy, kommunikation och lärande
för delaktighet och aktivitet, människans
utveckling ur ett livscykelperspektiv and 10 sp
tvärvetenskaper.
