Competency aims
The main aim is that the students have a basic
knowledge in medication administration and good
skills in dosage calculation. In this course the
contextual and clinical caring and medical
competence is developed.
Learning outcomes
after completion of the course the students
- know the different forms of administering drugs
and how they act in the human body - are aware of their responsibility and know how
to act according to current regulations - has an ability to acute in acute situations of
pharmacotherapy - identify the connections between patient safety
and medication administration - perform dosage calculation correctly and thus
grant patient safety - has an ability to guide the patient in questions
concerning their medication

Exam
The exam includes of two parts: A theoretical part
and a part with dosage calculation. The
theoretical part is graded with grades 1-5. The
calculation part includes ten problems and has a
zero tolerance for errors. The calculation part is
graded accomplished or not accomplished. Use of
calculator is not permitted.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Basic mathematics
Anatomy and physiology
Additional information
The exam is divided into two parts a theoretical part which is graded 1-5. Highest score in the theoretical test is 35 points. An accomplished result requires 17 points. 17-20p=1, 21-24p=2, 25-28p=3, 29-32p=4, 33-35p=5
The second part includes a dosage calculation test with ten problems. Use of calculator is not allowed. Pass rate 100% correct. The calculation test is graded accomplished/not accomplished. The grade of the course will be the grade in the theoretical part. After an accomplished result in the calculation exam the students do every semester a semester exam in dosage calculation. In the test there are five items and the use of calculator is allowed. The students need a total of 5 times five items when they graduate.
