the research process, specifically why and how
various research designs are used in Nursing

- Demonstrate an ability to implement and
critically evaluate research designs and their
use within nursing research. (Skills)
- Apply scientific literature in your own work as
well as use it as reference material in your own
knowledge development work (thesis). (Skills)
- Justify for research methodology choices in
relation to the chosen thesis topic (Skills)
- Understand, consider, apply and promote
research ethics as well as comply with ethically
sustainable research practices. (Knowledge and

- Foster a positive attitude towards sustaining a

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to
- Read, understand and critically review
scientific literature.
- Search, manage and critically evaluate academic
articles and research in your own professional
field (Nursing).
- Know and understand the basic concepts relating
to quantitative and qualitative research design
and data, as well as understand how and when they
can be used.
- Know and understand the relevance of Design,
Data collection, Data analysis in the field of
research and in the development of working life
(within the Nursing profession).
- Apply a relevant research design in a thesis,
with application of suitable data collection and
analysis methods.
- Can report and critically argue in writing and
have mastered the technique of referencing.
- Apply principles of research ethics
