Students are able to

• observe changes in the state of health of the medical-surgical
  patient
• establish a good care relationship with the patient and his
  relatives
• utilize the basic clinical care methods in the care of the patient
• the have practical skills in medical surgical nursing
• do a care plan
• understand the perioperative process and is able to use it in the
  care of the patient
• practice caring science in the care of the medical or surgical
  patient
• give an oral report (using ISBAR as a tool)

This course contributes to increase the competence within the
contextual clinical care and medical competence.
The competence increases in the medical and surgical context and
the medical competence will also consolidate.
Theoretical knowledge and practical skills in medical-surgical
nursing.

Central issues relating to medical-surgical nursing

The student needs to have basic knowledge in the following topics:
Basic caring science, medicine 1, clinical care, anatomy and
physiology, pharmacology and medication calculation and
administration
The student must have accomplished Clinical care level 1 and have accomplished their first internship in the field.
