Competency aims
The aim of the course is to
- give knowledge about how common problems and conflicts effect the individual's psychophysical well being
-give knowledge about how the psychological health can be seen in the human being - give an overview of the most common coping strategies
- give knowledge about functional disabilities in the musculoskeletal system, and principles for treatment of these.
Learning outcomes
Part 1 Psychophysical physiotherapy:
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to
- show knowledge about factors affecting the psychosomatic well-being of the human being
- apply coping strategies in client situations
- apply methods for Body Awareness, relaxation and coping with stress for both treatment and health promotion.
Part 2: Physiotherapy in musculoskeletal disorders
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to
- show knowledge about and assess common functional disorders related to upper limb, shoulder girdle and column
- show knowledge about treatment principles in common musculoskeletal disorders and choose relevant evidence based physiotherapy methods
- assess the need for, plan, accomplish and evaluate physiotherapy interventions.
