Competency aims

The aim of the course is to provide future media operators with the basic knowledge and conceptual tools to perform their professional tasks responsibly.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to use the interpretative tools and concepts discussed in the course for the critical analysis of media texts.

The course is divided in three parts and ten sections:

10. Media Professionals: Power and Responsibility

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The course is in English. A good knowledge of this language (reading & comprehension, oral and written communication, etc.) is the only prerequisite.

Assessment requirements

Assesment will be based on tests for each section of the course. Students will be asked to answer questions concerning relevant content of the readings. A final assignment will consist in the critical and argumented evaluation of one chapter of the textbook. In this evaluation students are supposed to show their competence in applying critical skills to the analysis of the textbook.
