Competency aims

The aim of the course is to give the student basic
knowledge of the Swedish language and how to use it
in everyday situations.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to
- cope in routine everyday situations (orally,
simple instructions, greetings)
- be acquainted with the Swedish alphabet and
pronunciation
- write very simple messages, for example
personal data on a form
- form simple sentences and questions in the
present tense both orally and in writing
- understand the essential information in very
simple texts, as statements about someone
(reading comprehension)
- understand words and expressions when the
interlocutor is speaking very slowly

Basic structures of the language, pronunciation and
vocabulary
Texts and dialogues
Focus is on nursing interactions

Attendance is mandatory (at least 75% in order to attend the exams), because we practice pronunciation, interaction and your spoken skills during the lectures.
To pass the course the student should pass the
following examinations:
Written examination 1 and 2 (50 %)
Spoken test (25 %)
Activity during the course, assignments (25 %)
Presence is compulsory.
