Competency aims

The aim of the course is to give the student further knowledge of the Finnish language and to practice to use Finnish
in daily situations in the society and at work.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to understand from slow and clear speech simple basic expressions that are directly related to the learner?s own life or concern the immediate concrete environment. The student is expected to be able to cope with simple speech situations like shopping and going to restaurant and to communicate about his or her background, family, hobbies and plans although the pronunciation is still defective.
The student is also expected to be able to write very short notes about for example being late and to describe his or her family, occupation and plans. The student is expected to be able to retrieve information from simple texts like menus, TV-programs and signboards.
