The aims of this course are that:
- The student understands the aim of scientific
knowledge development in the area of care/nursing
- The student gains basic knowledge of scientific
thinking and evidence-based practice
- The student grasps the basics of information
retrieval and critical reviewing of scientific
publications
- The student understands the concept of nursing
metaparadigm
- The student becomes familiar with different
caring-/nursing theories and models and is able
to understand the application of nursing theory
to practice
- The student understands the principles of the
care value base professional ethics and how they
govern professionalism in nursing

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to:
- Understand scientific thinking and language
- Apply critical thinking in reading and
