Competency aims

The aim of the course is for the student to

- Understand the different processes and phases
of event production
- Develop skills needed to produce events
- Develop insights into the event and festival
field

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, the student is
expected to be able to

- Master the basics of creating cultural events
- Plan, organize, evaluate and develop an event
and the operations around it
- Know about sustainability and safety in event
production

Course contents

How does event production work in practice? How
are cultural events planned, organized,
evaluated and developed?

During the course, we go through the various
phases and sub-areas of event production and how
to produce events in a successful way. The
emphasis is on the theoretical, which in
practical exercises is tested and compared with
how it actually works at events.

absolute and there is a compulsory attendance
according to the department's policy.

Assessment requirements

For a passing grade, the student must take the
following examinations:

1. 80% attendance according to the department's
policy (10p) and activity during close study
sessions (5p) - the course will be held online
2. Kickoff assignment: learning outcome (5p)
(26.3.2020)
3. Written assignment (20p) (29.4.2020)
4. Presentation (of the written assignment) (5p)
(28.4.2020)
5. Written exam on itslearning (30p) (7.5.2020)
6. Learning diary (25p) (15.5.2020)

Due to the exceptional situation created by the
Coronavirus and the closing of the University,
the course has been altered in the following way:
The lectures are moved from campus to Zoom and
attendance as well as course activity are
followed up through the communication and
meetings online. A separate absence report (via
Itslearning or email) is not required, but the
student should notify the group and the examiner
if unable to participate in group work during the
set times (bookings on ARBS).

For an approved course 50 points are required and
each part must be passed (half of the possible
points for each part)

The rating scale is as follows:
50-59 = 1
60-69 = 2
70-79 = 3
80-89 = 4
90-100 = 5

Re-examination is arranged at the department´s
re-examination 12.6.2020 at 9-12.
