Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the student
develops as an expert on a chosen area of Sports
and Health Promotion. The student manages the
basics of research
based development work, gets an ability to an
innovative and evidence based way of work and can
utilize national and international research in
his/her work as a Sports Instructor/Health
Promotor. He/She can independently limit a topic
for developing Sports and Health Promotion and
searches and utilizes knowledge by scientific
methods and systematic. The student can document
the results of his/her work and write a report
and is training for logical and critical
evaluation, interpreting and ways of presenting
data according to scientific principles and can
argument for his/her opinions.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to carry out development work where
scientific methods and systematic are being used
and to write a report on the work.

Independent studies, guidance in group, seminar
presentations, Thesis presentation

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Theory of Science and methodology

Additional information

A project or a development work, preferably in
co-operation with occupational life. The thesis
can be carried out individually or in a group,
but each students individual performances
should be able to evaluate.

Literature from the study area in question.
Recent/current research reports. Method
literature.

1) Documentation and presentation of idea for
Thesis in a seminar

2) Writing of plan for own Thesis, presentation
of the plan and opponent for one plan in a
seminar

3) Execution of the Thesis

4) Presentation of own Thesis and opponent for
one Thesis in a Thesis Forum

5) Participate in and listen to 8 Thesis Forum
presentations

6) Maturity exam
