Competency aims

The aim is that the student after completing the
course has deepened his/her knowledge of
habilitation for children and youth. The aim is
also that the student has a broader understanding
of person- and family-centred work as well as interprofessional work.

Learning outcomes

After completing the course, you should have:
Module 1:
- skills to initiate, and together with the
child/youth/family promote activity and
participation
- competences to realize goal-directed work based
on the person´s developmental needs and context
- ability to reflective observe your own attitude
and communication with the person/persons/family
you are working with.

Module 2:
- acquire project knowledge within the context of
the course

Course contents

The course contains of two modules, 10ects and 5ects:
1) Habilitation for children and youth. The
module is realized in collaboration with Learning and Consulting Centre, Ruskis (a special school for children and youth with
disabilities) as well as with VAU.

2) Project work in relation to module 1.

Additional information

Tis is the course, where you have the possibility
to combine theory and practice in a work place.
In part one you will have the possibility to work
with children and youth with disabilities.
The course is held in Swedish, English and
Finnish. Observe that you should know some
Finnish to be able to communicate with the
children at the special school(!)

Assessment requirements

Every module will be examined separately:
1. module: Active participation in the
multiprofessional teamwork (including
supervision at Arcada) and Valtti project, passed written tasks and
participation and oral presentation in the
seminar. Activity during supervision, practice and seminar will have an effect on the grade for the written task.

2. module: Passed project report.

In module 1 the multiprofessional teamwork
process and the presentation in the seminar are
evaluated with passed/failed and the written task
graded 0-5.
In modul 2 the project is graded as
passed/failed.
