Competency aims
The aim of the course is to give the student basic knowledge of the Swedish language and how to use it in everyday situations. The aim is furthermore to acquaint the student with Swedish and Nordic culture,customs and geography.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to
-cope in routine everyday situations (orally)
-master the Swedish alphabet and the basics of the Swedish pronunciation.
-write simple messages (e.g. filling in one's personal data on a form)
-form simple declarative sentences and questions in the present tense both orally and in writing.
-understand simple statements about himself/herself (reading comprehension).
-grasp the essential information in simple texts which deal with everyday life (reading comprehension).
-understand words and expressions about himself/herself and his/her local environment when the interlocutor is speaking slowly
Course contents
Basic structures of the language, pronunciation and vocabulary.
Culture and the Nordic countries.
Prerequisites and co-requisites
None. The level for this course is CEFR A1.1.

Attendance in classes is compulsory at all time.
