Competency aims

The aim of the course is to prevent accidents
To enhance the safety of customers
To improve the quality of travel services
To understand the rules, regulations and
limitations that one must take in consideration
when organizing an event.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to understand the meaning
of security in tourism and appreciate it.
Student will also be aware of different rules
and regulations that comes to licences and
permissions when organizing an event in a
public places.

Course contents

This course is combined together with
'Planering av evenemang' course.
Based on litterature studies of different event
books and other written sources you will create
your own model and process for producing and
managing an event in a form of a HandBook.
Input from guest lecturers representing
different functions within event industry will
be of advantage in receiving up-to-date
information about event planning.

Special features of tourism safety
First Aid
Laws and regulations
Risk analysis
Safety and security
Insurances
Permissions and licences
Contract management
Practical arrangements during the event

After taking part in the set of three event
courses, you will be able to plan and implement
an event from an idea to follow up both from a
theoretical and a practical point of view.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Event planning course and minimum 60 credits.
Introduction to marketing need to be passed.

MATUPA and First Aid has obligatory lecturers
The student must study all three courses in
Event Management
Note that language is Swedish, partly also
Finnish.
