Competency aims

The aim of the course is to present and implement
different
qualitative and quantitative research methods.

Learning outcomes

After the completion of the course the student
shall be able to
identify a research problem, define a research
objective, choose a
suitable research method, collect empirical data,
analyze the data
with a suitable method and present the results in
a final report.

Course contents

Qualitative research methods such as brain
storming, focus
groups,
interviews, case studies and action research.
Quantitative methods such as chi- square,
correlation-,
regression- factor-, cluster-, mds- conjoint and
similar methods.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

The courses of the two first years 100-120 sp.

The student is expected to familiarize himself with
the material for the lecture on Itslearning.
Mandatory attendance during training sessions in
computer class.

Assessment requirements

The examination of the quantitative methods are
thorough assignments and a virtual examination of
quantitative understanding through itslearning.
The assignments and the exam on Itslearning
account for 50% of the final grade.

The qualitative methods are graded through
assignments and a written examination. The
qualitative part accounts for 50% of the grade.
