Competency aims

The aim of the course is to give the student basic
knowledge of the Swedish language and how to use
it in everyday situations

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected
to be able to
-cope in routine everyday situations (orally)
-be acquainted with the Swedish alphabet
-write very simple messages (e.g. filling in
one's personal data on a form)
-to form simple declarative sentences and
questions in the present tense both orally and in
writing
-understand simple statements about
himself/herself (reading comprehension)
-grasp the essential information in simple texts
which deal with everyday life (reading
comprehension)
-understand words and expressions about
himself/herself and his/her local environment
when the interlocutor is speaking very slowly

and vocabulary.
Texts and dialogues
Culture and the Nordic countries

None. The level of this course is CEFR A1.1.

used both in the first and the second course in
Swedish. Get the book before the first lecture!

Assessment requirements

Attendance is mandatory (at least 75% in order to
attend the exams), because we practice
pronunciation, interaction and your spoken skills
during the lectures.
To pass the course the student should pass the
following examinations:
Written examination 1 (50 %)
Spoken test (25 %)
Activity during the course, assignments (25 %)

Presence is compulsory. The exams are only for a
student who has been present at the course.
