Competency aims

To provide the needed knowledge to successfully design, connect and test electrical components and their communication signals to a microcontroller for a low voltage robot application.

Learning outcomes

Having successfully completed this course the student will, within a microcontroller environment, be able to:
- Understand and work with basic analog and digital signal conversions.
- Successfully use an oscilloscope for signal detection and problem solving tasks.
- Work with synchronous and asynchronous serial communications.
- Understand the benefits of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM).
- Work with sine waves and operational amplifiers.
