This course corresponds to the course Industrial Economics in the Industrial Management and International Business degree programmes.

Learning outcomes

  • The purpose of a company. The role of engineers in companies.
    At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to:
  • Perform calculations on capital, interest, profitability and key ratios.
  • Describe the role and structure of companies in society.
  • Describe and apply methods for marketing, distribution, pricing.
  • Describe and apply methods for production of goods and services.
  • Estimate variable and fixed costs
  • Evaluate investments and perform profitability calculations.

  • Capital and interest. Profitability, key ratios.
  • Types of companies.
  • Marketing, distribution, pricing.
  • Production of goods and services.
  • Cost estimation, variable and fixed costs.
  • Depreciation, break-even diagram.
  • Investments and profitability calculations.
