Competency aims

The aim of this course is for the student to:
Understand the importance of purchasing and the
impact on the company?s profitability
Understand the concept of purchasing and Category
Understand the purchasing process and its
different stages
Know some tools for assortment planning, inventory
control and how to estimate the demand of a
Understand the impact of purchasing decisions on
the sustainability of the company?s logistical
Learn the tools and tactics in negotiations
according to different negotiation situations.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected

Be able to conduct a purchasing process
Be familiar with tools how to increase the
profitability of a product category
Be familiar with tools how integrate
sustainability in the purchasing process
Understand the relationship between negotiations
and its effects on the purchasing process

Course contents

The student works with separate purchasing tools
and will conduct a case study.
