Competency aims
The aim of the study unit is: The student develops
one´s competence in pharmacotherapy and drug
calculations in child and adolescent work.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the study unit the student is
expected to be able to:
Understand the characteristics of patient safety
in pharmacotherapy within child and adolescent
nursing
Understand the basics of clinical pharmacology in
pharmacotherapy of the most common child and
adolescent diseases and know how to apply the
information in nursing
Know how to guide pharmacotherapy and its self-
supervision to children and adolescents and their
immediate circle
Know how to execute the various forms of drug
calculations without errors and understand the
significance of the operations in nursing

The most common drug ingredient groups and their
areas of use, modes of action and routes of

Therapeutic effects of medicines, side and joint
effects and mechanisms of combined action
