Competency aims

The aim of the course is that student are able to: competencies Clinicla care competence: take care of the seak newborn child planning and preparing competence according to altered parenthood before,during and after delivery crossprofessional interventions when an altered delivery is expected and when the child is in need for special care

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to know the most common causes for threats for the newborn and knows how to treat these causes understand what consequences of complications in pregnancies and delivery has for the health of the child and fetus. be able to act in first aid situations and transport apply knowledge in medicine, technology and midwifery in treating the asfyctic, infected, injured, sick or malformed child have knowledge of the most common examinations according to placenta function, alterations in KTG and understands the consequences of changes in these measures for the child meet parents and their premature child or a sick/dead newborn child. Student know how to transport and what to assess in transport of a sick/week newborn baby from hospital to hospital. reflect upon ethical situations that can occur working with matters in midwifery

- neonatal care - impact of the pregnancy on health of the fetus - nutrition of the newborn and vital measures - human-genetics and embryology - newborn baby -reflex and newborn baby -care of a premature -infections and a newborn
