Competency aims

The aim of the course is to provide knowledge about the organizational structure of mental health care. The student gets knowledge about different kinds of patients suffering from mental problems. The student gains experience of working with patients and is provided with counselling.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to understand the orgánizational structure of mental health care. The student can identify a person in mental crisis and can support patients who are suffering from mental problems. The student can apply ethical principles in the psychiatric context, the student understands her/his role in the caring relationship and understands the meaning of counselling in developing mental health care.
