Students have knowledge of the theory of clinical
care work at a basic level with the aim of
gaining
an understanding and being able to apply the
theory through practice. Students recognize
ethics
and professionalism in nursing work and can
describe this as a phenomenon. Students
understand
the importance of client centering and can
describe evidence-based activities and decision
making.

After completing the course: students have skills
to meet patients with different types of health
barriers and health resources, students have
ability under supervision form an idea of the
patient as a whole. Students have under
supervision the ability to plan, implement and
evaluate the care, students have an idea of the
characteristics of the care and treatment of
patients with different cultural background.
Students have basic clinical skills in hospital
hygiene and clinical care. The student is
familiar
basic nursing Finnish.

The first lecture and lessons in the simulation
center are compulsory.

To accomplish the course the students shall
participate and pass oral and practical skill
demonstrations exercises during contact days in
the simulation center. The student shall
achieve a passing grade of 60% for the final
theoretical examination.
