Competency aims

The student can plan, carry out and evaluate sports events. The student knows which functions are of importance and how contacts to coworkers are created and kept. The student can create cooperation with other organizers, sports administrators, media and the commercial sports branch. The student can function in the work field as an administrator in sports branch companies and organizations and apply differetnt theories in his/her work. The student is familiar with the structure f the society and the culture of sports and fitness branch. The student can function as own entrepeneur at his own branch and be able to cooperate multiprofessionally with close related branches.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to take care of concrete practical work assignements and has knowledge that is needed in planning and execution of an event to succeed. The student can take part in an already existing event or organize such by him or herself depending on the accessibility to suitable events. The work may include meetings with co-organizers/sponsors, marketing, and evaluation of events. The student learns to understand the process of sponsoring and to use different channels in marketing. After the course the student is capable of planning, executing and evaluating different types of sports events as a process in a club, federation or a company.

federations, clubs, communities, media, professional sports, amateur sports, spontaneous sports, recreational sports, team and individual sports, sports manufacturers, sports service producers, sports facilities, registrated sports trade marks, owners, fans, agents and managers, sport as fun/product/medicine, sales, marketing, promotion, image, product development, consumer, voluntary work, social club activities, applying financiation, entrepeneurship, security, tourism, responsibility. sports management theories.
Participation at an event as a official/observer at a planned position taking care of a certain area of responsibility or as a researcher within the thesis process.
