Competency aims

The aim of the course is that the student knows how exercise affects physiological functions in the human body and understands the adaptation processes in the body after physical training. Student learns to plan training and cope with entities appropriately in order to promote health, well-being and physical activity for different target groups and in order to reach the goals set up in a certain sport or activity.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to
- know general training principles and the physiological background (ie. adaptation processes in the body) in the science of sport coahing.
- know the training of different physical qualities.
- can apply general coaching science in different sports or activities.
- can plan training systematically both on short and longer perspective.
- understands the concepts of health promotive physical activity and every day physical activity and also the meaning of physical activity for the holistic well being
- knows the relationship between physical activity and health and the meaning of physical activity in disease prevention.

Assessment requirements

The grade of the course consists of the exam (50 %) and the training program -assignment (50 %). In addition, each student has to participate in compulsory lessons, and each assignment has to be left in time according to the instructions.
