Competency aims

The course aims to provide the student with basic skills for promoting activity and participation for people with rheumatological diseases, spinal cord injury, orthopedic-traumatologic injuries, pain syndromes, loco-motor system deficits and illness concerning the hand.

Learning outcomes

Learning outcomes:
At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to explain how occupational performance is affected by illness such as rheumatoid arthritis, tetraplegia and different kinds of hand trauma.
The student can also evaluate the need for technical solutions such as aids and reconstructions at home or in the workplace.
Student know how to produce a static hand splint.

Course contents

Occupational therapy evaluation and interventions for people with rheumatological diseases, loco-motor concerns, hand trauma, pain syndrome, spinal cord -and orthopedic-traumathologic injuries.

Prerequisites and co-requisites

Approved examination in OT courses from first and second year of studies

Practical lectures and study visits are compulsory
