Competency aims

The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of mental health. Furthermore, the aim is to get an understanding of the factors that make a health promoting caring fellowship possible. The students get basic knowledge of dementia, as well as of symptoms and care of people who are suffering from dementia. The focus is on mental health of older people.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is expected to
- understand the meaning of mental health care and the basic principals of it
- understand the effects dementia has on people's behaviour
- understand the complexity of dementia care.
