Learning outcomes

After completing the study unit (knowledge):
-Deepens your knowledge in the care of patients
with advanced care needs
- Students understand the importance of working in
teams in emergency situations

After completing the study unit (skill):
-Students can independently assess one patient's
condition in an emergency situation, as well as
observing changes in vital life functions and
determining the need for care
- Students can in emergency situations
independently begin the care of a patient

After completion of study unit (approach):
-Students can understand in an in-depth way
how caring science is part of the clinical
reality, with the acutely ill patient in focus
Ability to listen and meet patients and
relatives' questions and concerns.

Course contents

The course is the first part of advanced care.
During this part, the content of ABC i is dealt
with patient assessment.
The following themes are taken up from an
emergency outpatient clinic perspective:
- Patient assessment in emergency situations
- Breathing
- Circulation

Prerequisites and co-requisites

To participate in the course, the student must have
completed all first, second and third year clinical
courses with approved results, as well as the course
Outpatient and intensive care

Additional information

Many of the theory lectures are held in Finnish.
The student can use Swedish under the course. The
student should have knowledge of Finnish at an
intermediate level.
Teaching takes place on campus and requires
attendance.
