Competency aims

In this study unit the focus lies on the following
competencies.

You know the history, trends and challenges of
special sports. You know the importance of
physical activity for different target groups, you
can adapt and develop your planning, teaching and
evaluation of physical activity to different
target groups with the help of different
pedagogical and didactical theories. You can
motivate and compare different leadership styles
and coaching techniques for special groups. By
reflecting on your own learning processes, you can
deepen your understanding of others' learning and
development. You develop your way of communicating
so that it can be used as a central tool in
leading special groups.

Learning outcomes

Divided into knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Level of knowledge: You know the history of
special sports and the present situation in
Finnish society and you also know the challenges
that society poses for different target groups.
You can set relevant target group-adapted goals
for physical activity and use different coaching
styles to achieve the goals.

Level of skill: You have the skill to plan,
perform, develop and evaluate target group-adapted
activities

Level of attitude: You can consider the importance
of physical activity and training for different
target groups and you are able to reflect on
different forms of activity for adapted groups.
