Competency aims

The aim of the course for the student is to
know reasons to the symptoms and principles
for assessment, treatment and rehabilitation
for the most common neurological diseases and
injuries.
The student deepen his/her knowledge of motor
control and learning and assessment of clients
with neurological disorder and implement
physiotherapy methods on persons with
neurological problems.

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student is
expected to be able to understand
neurophysiology for choosing optimal methods
for assessment, therapy, guiding and evaluation
for persons with neurological diseases and
injuries. The student know how to document the
physiotherapy process and work in a
multyprofessional team. The student can
implement earlier knowledge on the therapy for
persons with neurological illness and injuries.

Course contents

CNS function, and the meaning of the problems
for the person´s life.
Assessment, physiotherapy diagnosis, goal,
therapy and evaluation of the client with
neurological disorder. Most common neurological
diseases and injuries.
